The+All+Barack+Channel ABC to Propagate the $1.6 Trillion One Sided Universal Healthcare Lies

Last week ABC announced plans to air an ‘Obamacare’ special; Wednesday, June 24th.  Basically it will be a one-sided infomercial for the Neo-Marxist healthcare reform plan, as the voice of fiscally responsible conservatives will be silenced.

The network announced Monday that during its special next Wednesday, Obama will answer questions “from an audience made up of Americans selected by ABC News who have divergent opinions in this historic debate.”

Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay wrote a letter to ABC News Monday evening expressing concern about the one-sided nature of the program and requesting that ABC News give Republicans a voice in it, too.  The text of McKay’s letter was prominently posted in a report at the top of the Drudge Report on Tuesday.

“Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party’s views to those of the President’s to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented,” McKay wrote. “Our request was rejected.”

“I believe that the president should have the ability to speak directly to the (American) people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party’s opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers,” the RNC’s McKay wrote.

“In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this prime-time infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this prime-time event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime,” the letter concluded.

Unsurprisingly, the morally bankrupt mainstream media and the Democrats have refused to allow the American public to hear the whole story.  One little mentioned, potential deal-breaker Americans might like to know of is the composition of the supposed 46 million uninsured so-called ‘Americans.’  As it turns out, approximately 10 million of the 46 million uninsured, are NOT Americans, they are citizens of foreign countries.

The claim made by the White House this month that 46 million “Americans” lack health insurance is false because that number includes almost 10 million people who are not “Americans” but in fact citizens of foreign countries who happen to be present in the United States, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The claim was made repeatedly in a report published by the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) on June 2 and again in an op-ed published the same day by Christina Romer, the chair of CEA.

The claim that there are 46 million uninsured “Americans” has also been used by members of Congress and news organizations.

At a townhall meeting in Green Bay, Wis., last Thursday, President Obama twice referred to “46 million” people who lack health insurance, although in neither case did he describe those “46 million” as “Americans”—in one instance referring to them as “46 million people who don’t have health insurance” and in another instance as “46 million uninsured.”

The CEA’s claim that there are “46 million uninsured Americans” is false because, according to the Census Bureau, 9.7 million of the approximately 46 million uninsured people in the United States are not American citizens. In other words, about 21 percent of the uninsured in this country are citizens of other nations who are living here.

According to “Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States,” a Census Bureau report published in August 2008, there were 45.6 million persons in the United States who did not have health insurance in 2007, the latest year for which figures are available.  However, the report states that 9.7 million of these uninsured persons were not U.S. citizens.

The main snag however, might prove to be the astronomical cost being downplayed by both the media and Obama’s legion of radicals hell-bent on thrusting the plan down Americans’ throats.  Obama has already racked up $3 trillion in debt within his first five months in office, a pace which exceeds the speed of light.  He’s applying the same reckless abandon to his healthcare initiative, despite fatigue from the taxpayers, mindless of the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) estimated price tag of $1.6 trillion over 10 years (some estimates exceed $2 trillion).

Looming large is the question of cost. Initial estimates had Senate plans topping $1.6 trillion over 10 years, and senators are working to scale back. Curbs on Medicare and Medicaid spending are assured, and a range of taxes are under consideration, along with the possibility of fees on employers who don’t cover their employees.

Depending upon which estimate one accepts, the Obama program is projected to cost between $1 trillion and $1.5 trillion during the first ten years of operation. That works out to an average annual cost of $100 billion to $150 billion, or somewhere between $274 million and $411 million a day.

Thus stands the Kennedy health care bill, placeholder for the hard left dream of a government takeover of the American health system. The bill is a taxpayer-supported monument to the lethal stupidity of this statist objective that will leave Americans with fewer choices, more government control over medical decisions, higher taxes, and a smaller private health insurance market (mostly union health plans paid for by taxes on the health benefits of non-union workers) that punishes efforts to reward healthy behavior.

We see that when it comes to healthcare, everyone wants to ‘play’ but not everyone wants to ‘pay.’  Again we see the same destructive, entitlement attitude of liberals: policy making based not on facts but feelings and extreme generosity with other people’s money.

Rallies are being held across the nation the evening of Wednesday, June  24th at local ABC stations.  Check with other informed, freedom and liberty loving Americans in your town for a time and location near you.  In addition, let your congressmen know that supporting universal healthcare will be their ‘kiss of death.’
