RINOs Are the Past Not the Future

Sunday Paper - May 10th, 2009

I find it humorous and fascinating that on a daily basis CNN, MSNBC, and the rest of the lame-stream media concern themselves with the question of ‘who’s the leader of the GOP?’ What they fail to understand and quite frankly are incapable of comprehending is that the GOP doesn’t not need a leader per se. Every conservative American is a capable leader. Our convictions are based on timeless principles and values (The Bible and The U.S. Constitution). We see things as right or wrong, good or evil. There are NO gray areas in the minds of conservatives. Our beliefs are unchanging. We don’t need to read from a teleprompter when speaking because we know who we are and what we stand for (the truth).
Of course, for a liberal, anything goes. It’s that old saying, “if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything.” And as you clearly see now in America, that is what has happened with Obama. Those that know nothing, see nothing wrong. For this reason, we see the lame-stream media promoting the likes of John McCain’s daughter, Jeb Bush, and now Colin Powell (he voted for Obama and actually thinks Americans want MORE government in their lives) who are telling us that Republicans need to move more to the left. Some would call these people RINOs (Republicans in Name Only). Republicans perhaps, but true conservatives like ourselves know that the Republican party has already moved left of center. The great majority of Republicans in office are nowhere near conservative enough.
In the last election, the GOP gave us John McCain, who many would call a RINO, a moderate, or even a liberal Republican. John McCain did not excite conservatives and did not excite many of the independents or the ‘undecided.’ The future success of the Republican party does not lie in becoming a party nearly identical to the Democratic Party with just a few more golfers and church-goers. To win elections and reclaim our country, it is imperative that the GOP reconnect with Americans by communicating the core principles and values of American society, those espoused by our Founding Fathers. Moderation waters down our nation. A watered down nation lacks a fundamental identity and vulnerability festers. Weakness gets you killed. Moderation will leave us with no nation.

Thank-You Tea Party for our Damaged Retirement Accounts Mr. ToughMoneyLove is as fiscally conservative as most but I am also pragmatic. Should Christians vote Republican? Should Christians Vote Republican: To answer this question, we need to first address a common disagreement. Why I'm a Recovering Republican Readers beware: this is one of the few occasions I'll ever allow myself to vent from my political soapbox.
