Why We Protest - by Jacob Ingalls
Over the past couple of months across the US local “tea parties” have been organized to protest among other things the way bailouts and stimulus packages have been past and spent. On April 15th 2009 there will be simultaneous tea parties held across our fair land (for full listings go here http://taxdayteaparty.com/). The single biggest question that will be on the lips of most of our onlookers and maybe the drive-by media is “why?”. Why would people ever want to protest what our government is doing to “save” our country?
To those whom may ask why, here is a possible answer. We have simply had enough, we have been pushed too hard for too long and we are tired of it. We believe that our government is threatening our very lives and our free pursuit of happiness. We believe that if a man/woman works hard he/she should earn the wages that his/her talents can bring in, not what the US government or any other outside official deems as appropriate. We believe that governments, business and people should be allowed to fail if they are unable to sustain themselves. We have pity on those who have fallen on hard times but we believe it is our right to pick how much and to whom we give our money too. We believe it is our right to be secure in our possessions and our property, and that the government does not have the authority to tell the farm what to grow and when to grow it.
We believe that no company is too big to fail, our economy is made up of resilient people who will risk so that they may gain. We believe that our nation is a shining city upon a hill for all others to see. We believe that if we lose freedom, that unlike our forefathers that we will have no place to go. If you go out and show your support for these ideas on April 15th and are asked by the media to explain why, please make sure you list everyone that is responsible. Both parties in Washington have blood on their hands for the socialization of our nation, do not aim everything at Obama or the Dems in general, but speak up with one voice, and say “we have had enough”
