The Obama Economy - Backlash Begins
Posted Under: Uncategorized
Sunday Paper - March 8th, 2009
I am a citizen of the United States who is frightened and appalled at the assault on capitalism and freedom launched by Barack Obama. I happen to have a microphone and I happened to accept an invitation to speak before a large group of patriotic conservatives last weekend. I am sounding a warning, raising red flags in hopes other citizens will wake up and realize what is happening to their country.
I am the most prominent national figure actually tying Barack Obama to his polices. The Republican Party is afraid to do so because they follow polls and his approvals are around 59% right now. The White House is trying in every way possible to say I am the leader of the GOP because they are trying to marginalize me. In truth, they are elevating me, growing my audience and enabling me to get my message out to an even wider audience than my 20-22 million radio audience.
The Republican Party and the conservative movement are two different things. I have nothing to do with the party. But I am a conservative and I fervently believe in the principles of our nation’s founding, which are under assault from Barack Obama and the Democrat party. I oppose Obama and his policies because I want America to succeed. And I am saying so.
These are the words of Rush Limbaugh, in a statement to the Boston Herald, which appeared in that publication on March 5th. Rush obviously felt the need to defend himself on his stance and his words after the Obama administration launched a fast and furious assault his way. Of course, they would like to paint the picture of those who dissent from Obama’s failing economic policies as unpatriotic, when the truth is exactly the opposite.
CNBC’s Jim Cramer, a life-long Democrat and previously an Obama supporter came under fire as well, after having the mettle to truth tell of Obama’s short, yet highly destructive reign.
Cramer went into further detail later on his CNBC show, Mad Money:
As Cramer puts it, Obama and his radical agenda are crushing nest eggs throughout America. In a March 6th piece in the Wall Street Journal entitled, “Obama’s Radicalism is Killing the Dow,” author Michael J. Boskin points out:
Mr. Obama’s $3.6 trillion budget blueprint, by his own admission, redefines the role of government in our economy and society. The budget more than doubles the national debt held by the public, adding more to the debt than all previous presidents — from George Washington to George W. Bush — combined. It reduces defense spending to a level not sustained since the dangerous days before World War II, while increasing non-defense spending (relative to GDP) to the highest level in U.S. history. And it would raise taxes to historically high levels (again, relative to GDP). And all of this before addressing the impending explosion in Social Security and Medicare costs.
In a related WSJ piece just three days earlier, “The Obama Economy,” a similar chord was struck:
What is new is the unveiling of Mr. Obama’s agenda and his approach to governance. Every new President has a finite stock of capital — financial and political — to deploy, and amid recession Mr. Obama has more than most. But one negative revelation has been the way he has chosen to spend his scarce resources on income transfers rather than growth promotion. Most of his “stimulus” spending was devoted to social programs, rather than public works, and nearly all of the tax cuts were devoted to income maintenance rather than to improving incentives to work or invest.
You have to applaud Rush Limbaugh and Jim Cramer for standing up and stating the obvious when it has certainly been unpopular to do so. That is called leadership my friends, something we are not getting from so-called President Obama. We need more Americans that have a visible platform doing the same, standing up and taking a leadership role in the fight to preserve The United States of America. You and I can do this, yes on a smaller scale than Rush and Jim, but acting in concert, our numbers can have a major impact.
Are there any more Americans out there, anywhere, who love America and the American prosperity created only by free markets and capitalism? We know Barack Obama won’t be putting his hand up.
