Church Shooting, Pastor Dies

Sunday Paper - March 8th, 2009

First Baptist Church in Maryville, Illinois was the site of tragedy this morning.  A lone gunman walked down the aisle, shortly after service began, and unloaded four rounds from a .45 ACP pistol into Senior Pastor Fred Winters.  The gun jammed after firing the fourth round, before anyone else could be shot dead.

Churches and pastors are often the target of violence, making church a great place for the “good guys” to bring their guns.  Psycho killers would no longer think of the church as a “soft-target” if they knew how many church-goers take full advantage of their First AND Second Amendment Rights.

Let us all make sure we cling to our guns and religion.
