kilpatrick hip hop mayor 255x300 Ex Hip Hop Mayor Released from Jail

Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit’s former ominously described “hip-hop” mayor, was released from jail yesterday after serving 99 days of a 120 day sentence.  The 15 felony charges against him cost Wayne County taxpayers over nine million dollars.  Kilpatrick pled guilty to two felony perjury charges and no contest to a felony assualt charge.

Reportedly, Kilpatrick says jail is “incredibly purifying,” and he’s ”learned a lot.”  In addition, Kilpatrick has shed 25 lbs. since going into the “hole” in October.  The disgraced mayor was en route to a Dallas suburb and apparently had a job interview scheduled with an undisclosed company.

With a currently contracted economy, one would assume the employment prospects for a convicted felon (who by the way ran the city of Detroit further into the ground) are slim.  Speaking of slim, dropping 25 lbs. in four months is not bad, perhaps he can audition for those Nutrisystem commercials.
