Super Bowl QB Kurt Warner Glorifies God, Credits Christ

Sunday Paper - February 1st, 2009
The nearly 100 million people watching Super Bowl XLIII this evening will be witnessing a faithful witness. Arizona Cardinals quarterback, Kurt Warner, is a born-again Christian who puts his faith in Christ first in his life.
Warner has an amazing story, from stocking the shelves of a grocery store to two-time league MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and Super Bowl Champion. If Kurt and the Cardinals pull of the victory this evening, it will be Kurt’s second Super Bowl championship after having played in three of them (two prior Super Bowl appearances with the St. Louis Rams).
A second Super Bowl win for Warner this evening will further his chances of reaching the Hall of Fame. If Warner can lead the Cards to victory tonight and is named the game’s MVP, he bolsters his resume to read as follows:
- 10-1 record in the postseason (best playoff winning percentage ever)
- 2-time NFL MVP
- 2-time Super Bowl MVP
- Only QB to be named Super Bowl MVP for two different teams
- Second-highest career completion percentage
- Highest career average passing yards per game
- Second-highest career playoff passer rating
- Most career yards in Super Bowl (you have to assume he’ll be throwing for a lot of yards if the Cardinals are to win)
- Intangible: the greatest rags-to-riches story in NFL history
As great of a quarterback as Warner is, he is an even better person. Off the field, Warner is a sure-fire “Hall of Famer.” Although he’s often censored by the mainstream media, Kurt unabashedly gives glory to God in all his accomplishments and shares his faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In 2001, along with his wife Brenda, Kurt founded Kurt Warner First Things First Foundation (http://www.kurtwarner.org/) a non-profit organization dedicated to impacting lives by promoting Christian values.
When the game kicks off this evening, I will be rooting for Kurt and his Cardinal teammates.

What a great game Super Bowl XLIII turned out to be. Kurt and the Cards were not outmatched, the interception returned 100 yards for a touchdown at the end of the first half was the difference maker. It would have been great to see Kurt win and give the glory and credit to The Father and The Son.
