Sarah Palin: Conservative of the Year

Sunday Paper - December 28th, 2008

Sarah Palin has been named the winner of Human Events’ prestigious “Conservative of the Year” award for 2008. As the Vice Presidential running mate of Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain, Sarah Palin, with her charisma and powerful presence, became an overnight, national sensation. An enormous following ensued on the campaign trail. As a true conservative, she was an infusion of energy into the McCain campaign and the Republican Party. The surge had Democrats reeling, as the race for the Presidency narrowed.
Sarah Palin is truly an American success story. Born the third of four children to a school secretary and a science teacher she certainly had humble beginnings. Sarah demonstrated her leadership abilities at a young age when she led her high school basketball team to a state championship. That same competitive spirit led her to politics where in 1992, at the tender age of 28, she ran for Wasilla city council and won. Four years later she ran for mayor of Wasilla and was victorious once again. In 2006, Sarah Palin became Alaska’s first female governor and at just 42 years old, the youngest governor in the state’s history. Then amid much speculation, Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain introduced Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate for the November 4th, 2008 United States Presidential Election.
With the prospect of an outsider, not one of the darlings from the elitist inner circles of Washington, D.C., having a chance to become Vice President of The United States of America, the liberal media went into a frenzy and began attacking from every angle. Even the Obama campaign panicked, deploying an army of attorneys to infiltrate Alaska in search of any dirt that could destroy Sarah Palin. What they found was that there really was no dirt, but that didn’t matter. They knew she was tough and a reformer and the clowns in Washington and their special interest cronies were being threatened. They were obsessed with Sarah Palin and determined to witness her demise. The liberals hated her for the same exact reasons conservatives loved her.
Let’s start with the obvious. First of all, Sarah Palin is an attractive woman. I think so and so do a lot of other guys I know. If you don’t agree then maybe you should know that some of the most popular searches online are “Sarah Palin hot,” “Sarah Palin bikini,” and others which exceed my self-imposed content ratings limit of PG-13. Todd Palin is a ruggedly, handsome man’s man. He’s not the kind of guy you would find walking around with a sweater tied around his neck. Together they make a great looking couple and the five children remind us all that the flame is still burning. Perhaps those in the media aren’t quite as content with their family life as Sarah is.
Speaking of family life, Sarah Palin has managed a successful political career while also being the mother of five children. She clearly has prioritized her life properly and achieved the balance so many strive for. At one point she passed on the opportunity to run for Senate because she couldn’t be an Alaskan “hockey mom” if she was living in Washington, D.C. What an awesome example she is for the feminist movement in America, showing all women that yes, you can have it all. Feminists however, reject Sarah Palin. Apparently, one is not truly a feminist unless one is a liberal and pro-choice.
Sarah and her daughter Bristol live their Christian values and are pro-life. According to the medical journal Prenatal Diagnosis, approximately 90% of pregnancies are terminated once a diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome is made. So when Sarah commented on being blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby boy (her infant son Trig, who has Down’s Syndrome) you better believe that feelings of guilt and shame surfaced inside of many who made the decision to terminate when confronted with the same situation. And of course, the appropriate response is to hate Sarah Palin for stirring up such emotions. Additionally, Bristol Palin was crucified for having become pregnant at the age of 17 despite having plans to marry and raise her child. I’m sure the liberals would have found Bristol much more appealing had she just gone out and had an abortion. Remember it was their hero, Barack Obama, who said he wouldn’t want his teenage daughter to “be punished with a baby.”
Real Americans could relate to Sarah Palin because in so many ways their lives paralleled. The Palins are church-going Christians, faithful and spiritual. As a family they enjoy the outdoors, winter sports like hockey and snowmobiling, and hunting and fishing. In fact, Sarah is a strong proponent of Second Amendment rights and is an NRA life member. Sarah’s eldest son, Track, enlisted in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Iraq. The Palin family, like so many other American families, is sacrificing for our country and paying for every American’s freedom.
Sarah Palin is what one would call self-made. The level of success she has achieved has been on her own merits. She’s not a “trust fund baby” nor is her name Sarah Kennedy. It has been her own courage, diligence, and faith that have opened doors for her. As the governor of Alaska she has been wildly popular and holds the highest approval rating of any governor in the United States. What the liberal Democrats pretend to be, Sarah Palin is. Liberals love to speak of blue-collar roots yet live like aristocrats. Secretly, they wish they had the attributes and the character of a Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin is 2008’s Conservative of the Year and she’s won’t be going away anytime soon.

You know, it is interesting to read the Caroline Kennedy articles. The seeming “love-in” the news agencies have, even pulling their punches in “negative” pieces, so clearly displays their ideological bias when weighed against the reporting done on (against) Governor Sarah Palin.
What a joke.
In response to comment #2 (Shera), “what a joke” is very vague. Shera, I’d love for you to elaborate and attempt to defend your position. It would also be interesting to compare your resume to that of Governor Palin’s.
This is a typical tactic of the liberal, simply dismissive because the intellectual capacity to make a rational argument is lacking.

I idolize Sarah Palin because she is a woman with very strong character. She has also lots of accomplishments in the area of public service.^^
